AAU Provides Support to Citizens Displaced from Northern Wollo

Addis Ababa University (AAU) has sent material support today, 27th of August 2021 to citizens who have been displaced from Northern part of Wollo and settled in Dessie town due to the conflict triggered in the region.

Ahmed Hassen (PhD), Director for the Office of External Relations, Partnerships and Communication (OEPC) of AAU, said that all staff members in the University have been working together to alleviate the plight of citizens who have been displaced from their homes and properties.

A total of 1,157 blankets, 80 mattresses and other materials contributed by the AAU staff have been mobilized and there is readiness from the staff to provide more support, as Dr. Ahmed stated.

According to Dr. Ahmed, Addis Ababa University is currently carrying out its work as part of social service by doing this support as one of its teaching, research and social service missions accomplishment.

As stated by Dr. Ahmed, necessary connections have been made so that the goods can be safely transported and delivered to the consumers. OEPC is ready to coordinate any support provided by the staff in the future, he added.

Dr. Ahmed called upon all Ethiopians to support and help those in need expressing his gratitude to the people of Dessie town for their generous support they have been rendering so far.
