AAU Organizes Appraisal and Recognition Ceremony
Addis Ababa University (AAU) organized a ceremony that appraised scholars who have recently granted the rank of full professorship, and recognized the staff members of the University that currently retired, at Ras Mekonnen Hall on the 30th of March 2022.
Professor Tassew Weldehana, President of AAU, in his remarks on the event congratulated the new 11 fully ranked professors and recognized the retired members with sincere thanks pointing their services they rendered with unreserved commitment throughout their stay in the University.
According to Prof. Tassew, the Professors and the retired staff members of the University are equally valuable to AAU. All the 1st, 6th and 402nd respectively regional, continental and global rankings of the University compared with over 1,600 universities, are granted due to the efforts of the two parties, he added.
Emebet Mulugeta (PhD), Academic Vice President of the University, in her remarks said, “The staff members who are just leaving the University, are very proud people; you taught, mentored and guide us to our success. I would like to say thank you all.”
Hirut Terefe (Asso. Prof.), on behalf of the retired staff members and on her own behalf said that the ceremony organized by the University to recognize them was unique in the history of AAU. “I would like to say thank you for the attention the University management has given us today,” she added.
One of the newly ranked Professors, Bruk Lapiso (Prof.), in his comment said it is amazing that the University has now opened its eyes to give such remarkable recognition to its staff members. “It is a good beginning; I hope it becomes a trend,” he elaborated.
The University issued certificates and other recognizing presents to both the newly promoted and the retired members during the ceremony.
